John Watson at Photodoto posted a quick blurb to an Instructables article titled “Creating a 3D Effect with Image Editing Software“. If you look at my image below, this is what they’re talking about. It’s a pretty simple way to bring more attention to a subject while creating a very interesting look and effect. You could definitely get pretty wild with this one.
Six Common Photoshop Myths
The Online Photographer has provided us a service by “Demythologizing Photoshopping - Six Insights“. The article goes over things such as data vs information, data loss, 16-bit editing, layers, and other tips. For some folks, Photoshop can be a scary place — and it only gets scarier when you hear “experts” talk about all the things you should be doing. These six insights are a good way to get off on the right foot with Photoshop.
Creative Mood Lighting Tips
Blair Howard posted a tip at the Digital Photography Journal called “Creative Use of Light - Part 1: Creating a Mood“. He uses a story of one of his photographic adventures to capture the points of the importance of lighting. Blair talks about the quality, intensity, direction, and color of light as they affect the mood of the resulting image.
