Black & White and Photo Essays
By Brian Auer • February 7th, 2007High Contrast Black & White
The Digital Photography Journal has posted a link to a “Photoshop Video Tutorial: High Contrast Black & White“. I love black & white photography, and I loathe anybody who thinks that turning a color image into a black & white is as simple as one or two clicks in Photoshop. If it were, the video tutorial wouldn’t be 20 minutes long. The tutorial is good though, it will give you some good ideas for revisiting some of those old photos that you thought were too dull to work with.
Amazing Photo Essays
And again, the Digital Photography Journal has posted a link to “Photo Inspirations: Photo Essays“. This is great stuff if you’re looking for a little inspiration or a quick pick-me-up. The essays are well done with the photographer’s voice accompanying a photo slideshow of their work. I’ve only made it through a few of them, but I think there are a total of 34 essays by various photographers. Great work. The essays are posted at Magnum Photos.

Awesome photograph, but where is the photo coming from?
Where is it coming from? I took this while on a ferry in Upper New York Bay.
